Because I mentioned Don’t Starve in my last video, I thought I’d give everyone a glimpse of how to start up a successful game.
Don’t Starve is a game on Steam that is easy to learn but difficult to master. You wake up in the middle of a forest and are addressed by a strange man in a tuxedo: “Say pal, you don’t look so good. You better find something to eat before night comes!” In adventure mode, this is the extent of the story. You simply start collecting resources, build tools, and explore the world.
I have played over one hundred hours of Don’t Starve, and I still don’t know every feature, creature, or item in the game. There are several different environments, or “biomes”, in Don’t Starve that determine what kind of animals and resources you will find there. For example, the grassy biome contains grass (go figure), boulders, rabbits, and beefalo herds. Forests, grasslands, marshes, and rocky land existed when I bought it, but various updates have added many biomes since the release of the game, including deserts and deciduous forests.
Okay, can you tell I like this game?
Anyway, in this video, I show you how to start up a game of Don’t Starve and survive day one without dying a horrible (and usually creative) death. Yes, there are many things that can kill you in Don’t Starve, and many of them have nothing to do with starving.
